Importing your product catalogue to Google Merchant Center is done through a products feed – a file containing all information related to your products, enabling the upload and updates. However, it is possible to optimize the feed to further increase your products’ visibility on the Internet. Here’s how.

To be valid, your product feed should incorporate GMC’s required attribute, e.g. the GTIN (Global Trade Item Number). Other attributes are optional, but inputting that extra data gives you the opportunity to optimize your feed by communicating maximum information on your products. The more attributes you fill out, the better your page will be positioned in the search engine’s results.
Optimize your flow by matching your products’ categories with those offered on Google Shopping.
And last, but not least, pay close attention when composing your ads’ main attributes, including the title (this is the first thing users see when arriving on your sheet), description, image, description criteria (colour, size…), stock updates, delivery conditions, etc. Adding relevant keywords can greatly optimize your data feeds.

These are the three elements that enable you to optimize your products data before sending it to Google Merchant Center. For one, your feed is certain to be validated by GMC. And secondly, your ads will gain in visibility!
