Allegro is the largest e-commerce marketplace of European origin and the undisputed leader of online retail in Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in Poland in 1999, it has grown from a local auction site into a regional powerhouse connecting over 21 million active buyers with more than 163,000 merchants across Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. With a GMV of $15.6 billion in 2024 and a 45–50% share of the Polish e-commerce market, selling on Allegro in 2026 means accessing the most powerful consumer marketplace in CEE – and doing so with Lengow’s NetMarkets gives you a critical competitive edge.

Allegro, the e-commerce giant of Central and Eastern Europe

Founded in Poznań in 1999, Allegro began as a C2C auction platform and steadily evolved into the dominant B2C marketplace in Central and Eastern Europe. It went public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2020 in the largest IPO in the exchange’s history, reflecting its scale and strategic significance. In 2022, Allegro acquired the Mall Group, expanding its footprint to Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. It subsequently launched dedicated marketplaces in Czechia (allegro.cz), Slovakia (allegro.sk) and Hungary (allegro.hu).

Today, Allegro holds a 45–50% share of the Polish e-commerce market, a dominance unmatched by any single marketplace in Western Europe. By comparison, Amazon holds just 3.9% market share in Poland. The platform is estimated to contribute approximately 1% of Poland’s GDP, making it a true pillar of the country’s digital economy. Its GMV has grown at a 22% CAGR since 2017, reaching $15.6 billion in 2024.

Why sell on Allegro?

Allegro is not just the biggest marketplace in CEE – it is a full commerce ecosystem with integrated payments, logistics, advertising and loyalty. For international sellers looking to enter the Polish and CEE market, it represents an unrivalled opportunity.

  • Unmatched market reach: 45–50% of Polish e-commerce runs through Allegro. With 15.2 million active buyers in Poland alone and a further 6 million across Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary, there is simply no comparable entry point into the region.
  • One account, four markets: a single seller account on allegro.pl gives you access to buyers in Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. No need for separate registrations or storefronts per country.
  • Open to international sellers: registration requires only your local tax ID (no Polish company required). Seller-to-buyer communications are automatically translated into Polish, Czech or Slovak.
  • Allegro Smart! loyalty programme: with over 7 million subscribers in Poland, Smart! members spend 4.5× more than non-members. Qualifying offers get the Smart! badge, which can increase sales up to 2.5×.
  • Welcome Programme for new sellers: 0% commission for the first 90 days, free professional subscription tools and subsidised Smart! shipping for the first 100 shipments, worth up to €6,500 in total savings.
  • Allegro Ads ecosystem: sponsored listings displayed on Allegro, on all devices and in the Google Ads network, with a self-serve advertising panel. Ad revenue on the platform grew 30.6% YoY in Q2 2025.

Allegro One Fulfillment: logistics handled end-to-end

Allegro One Fulfillment (1F) is Allegro’s fully managed logistics service. Merchants ship their inventory to an Allegro warehouse; Allegro then handles storage, order picking, packing, shipping and returns, as well as customer service for fulfilment-related queries.

Key features of One Fulfillment:

  • Shipping within 24 hours at the latest, with access to Allegro’s carrier network (DHL, DPD, UPS, InPost) – no separate courier negotiations required
  • Access to Poland’s widest delivery network: 33,000+ parcel lockers and 37,000+ pickup points via Allegro Delivery
  • Returns handled by Allegro: full-value products accepted back into stock for resale
  • Customer service for logistics queries managed by Allegro 24/7
  • Cross-border shipping: One Fulfillment supports delivery to Czechia, Slovakia and other EU countries

One Fulfillment fees are calculated per product volume (basic fee from 2.69 PLN to 11.49 PLN per item), plus storage and handling fees. Use the official fee calculator to estimate costs for your catalogue.

Allegro Smart!: the loyalty programme that drives conversion

Allegro Smart! is the largest loyalty programme in CEE e-commerce, with over 7 million subscribers in Poland and 1.3 million+ beyond Poland. Smart! members receive free delivery and free returns on qualifying offers. The commercial impact for sellers is significant:

  • Smart! subscribers spend 4.5× more than non-members on average
  • Offers with the Smart! badge can see sales increase up to 2.5×
  • To qualify, sellers must meet Allegro’s quality standards and offer Smart! delivery (free shipping and returns)

Allegro partially subsidises delivery costs for Smart! sellers, reducing the financial burden of offering free shipping.

Best practices for performing well on Allegro

  • Optimise listings from day one: complete all attributes, use high-quality images, and include detailed descriptions. Allegro’s algorithm rewards complete, well-structured listings with better search placement.
  • Target the Smart! badge: qualifying for Allegro Smart! is the single most impactful lever for increasing visibility and conversion. Prioritise meeting delivery and returns quality criteria early.
  • Use Allegro Ads strategically: sponsored listings appear in prime positions across Allegro and in Google Ads. Invest in promoted offers during peak periods (Black Friday, Christmas, back-to-school) for maximum ROI.
  • Price competitively in PLN: Polish buyers are value-conscious. Use the automatic price converter for cross-border listings, but ensure your PLN pricing is competitive versus local sellers.
  • Leverage One Fulfillment for cross-border reach: shipping from an Allegro warehouse unlocks faster delivery and the full carrier network – a strong conversion driver for buyers unfamiliar with international sellers.
  • Via Lengow: automate your catalogue listing, synchronise stock and prices in real time, and manage Allegro orders centrally alongside your other channels from a single dashboard.

Who should sell on Allegro?

  • Western European brands entering CEE: Allegro is the fastest route to market in Poland and Central Europe. Brands already established in Western Europe can rapidly extend their digital reach eastward with a single integration.
  • Electronics and tech sellers: one of Allegro’s largest and most competitive categories, with millions of active buyers. Ideal for brands with competitive pricing and fast logistics.
  • Home, garden and DIY merchants: strong year-round demand with seasonal peaks. One Fulfillment makes cross-border logistics straightforward for bulkier products.
  • Fashion and lifestyle brands: a growing category on Allegro, with rising average spend per buyer and strong Smart! subscriber engagement.
  • Automotive parts and accessories sellers: a highly specialised, high-intent category with strong search volumes and loyal repeat buyers on the platform.
  • Multi-category retailers: Allegro’s breadth means large catalogues can be deployed across many categories from a single account, maximising reach with minimal operational complexity.
