Google Manufacturer Center lets brands and manufacturers give Google the official version of their product data: titles, descriptions, images, specifications, videos. Where Google Merchant Center carries a retailer’s offer (price, availability, shipping), Manufacturer Center carries the brand’s truth about the product itself, and that brand-authorised content is displayed consistently across Google Shopping, Search, Images and Ads, whoever is selling the product.
Two things make it worth a brand’s time. First, authority: manufacturer data takes priority as the source of truth over what retailers upload, so your products stop being described by whichever reseller wrote the listing. Second, visibility into the network: the programme’s analytics report impressions, clicks and CTR at GTIN level across every retailer selling your products on Google, with category benchmarks to compare against. All of it is free; there is no auction and no media budget on this channel.
Through Lengow, brands structure their catalogue to Manufacturer Center’s specification: GTIN integrity, required and rich-content attributes, image standards, variant structure, and a URL feed delivered to your Manufacturer Center account. It runs as one global channel (selected as “World” in Lengow), which can be duplicated and adapted per language or country. It complements, rather than replaces, the Google Shopping feed a retailer runs in Merchant Center.

Channel positioning
Who will see your products?
Everyone who encounters your products on Google sees the result: shoppers browsing the Shopping tab, comparing in Search, scanning Images or clicking a reseller’s Shopping ad. Manufacturer Center doesn’t create a new placement, it upgrades every existing one with the brand’s own titles, images, feature descriptions and videos, including a “From the manufacturer” layer on product pages.
The effect Google itself published: richer, accurate content earns more impressions and clicks against category benchmarks, because complete data qualifies products for more surfaces and better presentation. Johnson & Johnson and Safavieh both posted double-digit gains after enriching their feeds.
The discipline it demands is data stewardship rather than media management: unique GTINs, image standards, variant structure and content kept current, because your feed is now the reference the whole network inherits.
Multi-reseller brands
Brands sold through many retailers gain the most: one authoritative feed replaces a patchwork of reseller descriptions, and the analytics finally show the whole network’s performance.
Spec- and content-rich brands
Electronics, appliances, beauty and equipment, where feature descriptions, technical details and videos differentiate the listing.
Variant-heavy catalogues
Fashion, beauty and consumer goods with sizes, colours, formats or scents, where item-group structure unlocks reporting at the product-family level.
Not eligible: resellers
Manufacturer Center is for brand owners, manufacturers and licensors, with brand ownership verified at signup. Retailers selling other brands belong in Merchant Center and Google Shopping.
Who runs Google Manufacturer Center?
With no campaigns to bid on, ownership sits with the people responsible for brand presentation and the digital shelf, with insights teams close behind for the analytics.
Brand & product marketing managers
Own how the brand appears in public. Their constraint is consistency at scale: hundreds of products, dozens of resellers, one set of brand guidelines the feed has to enforce.
Digital shelf & e-commerce managers
Manage product content across D2C and the reseller network. They need one catalogue source feeding Manufacturer Center, Merchant Center and marketplaces without duplicated work.
Insights & category analysts
Mine the GTIN-level analytics: which products earn impressions across the network, how CTR compares to category benchmarks, and where content gaps cost visibility.
What you need to know before starting
The channel is free and worldwide, which makes the gates easy to miss: brand ownership must be verified, GTINs must be clean and unique, and image standards are stricter than most retail channels.
Brand eligibility
Open to brand owners, manufacturers and licensors. You create a Manufacturer Center account and verify brand ownership before any feed flows; resellers without brand rights are not eligible.
Cost & economics
The programme is free: no auction, no media budget. The investment is data work, and the return is listing quality across the network plus analytics you can’t get elsewhere.
Countries
Available worldwide as one international channel, selected as “World” in Lengow. Add several identical channels adapted per language or country when localisation matters.
Technical setup
A verified Manufacturer Center account plus a Lengow URL feed entered into it. No category mapping is needed on this channel. Google recommends a test feed first, then daily or weekly automatic updates.
Feed requirements
Required: id, unique GTIN, title, brand, description and an HD main image (minimum 1000×1000 px, white background, no watermarks). Rich fields (feature descriptions, videos, product pages, MSRP, technical details) and variant structure via item group id do the differentiating.
Measurement
Impressions, clicks and CTR per GTIN across every seller, benchmarked against your category. Supplying the suggested retail price unlocks additional reporting, and item groups roll reporting up to product families.
How to use Google Manufacturer Center with Lengow
Getting started with Lengow begins from your brand catalogue: Lengow maps it to Manufacturer Center’s structure, enforces GTIN and image standards, carries the rich-content fields that differentiate listings, and delivers a URL feed to your verified account, with segments controlling exactly which products are published.
Because the same catalogue also feeds Merchant Center, marketplaces and other channels, the value is running brand-authoritative data as one workflow rather than a side project. Check out Lengow’s detailed Google Manufacturer Center guide.
| Channel challenge | What successful brands do | What Lengow automates |
|---|---|---|
| Brand data authority | Submit the official version of every product so retailer-written listings stop defining the brand. | Attribute mapping adapts the brand catalogue to Manufacturer Center’s feed structure. |
| GTIN integrity | Carry one unique, valid EAN or UPC per product, the identifier the whole programme keys on. | Identifier fields are structured and validated through rules before the feed ships. |
| Image standards | Provide HD main images, at least 1000×1000 px on white backgrounds without watermarks, plus additional views. | Image fields are mapped from catalogue assets; AI Image Compliance helps meet requirements at scale. |
| Rich content | Add feature descriptions, technical details, videos and official product pages, the content that earned early brands their double-digit lifts. | Recommended fields (feature_description, video_link, product_page_url, product_detail) are carried in the feed. |
| Variant structure | Group variants under one item group id with the attributes that fit the product type: colour, size, material, format, scent. | Variation handling structures parent-child data, with parent products excluded from the feed. |
| MSRP & product dates | Supply suggested retail prices and release dates, which unlock additional reporting in the analytics. | suggested_retail_price, release_date and disclosure_date are mapped as standard fields. |
| Multi-market consistency | Keep one brand presence worldwide while adapting language and content per market. | Channel duplication per language or country, with AI Content Localisation for local content. |
| Catalogue control | Publish the products that represent the brand and hold back the ones that don’t. | Segments, filters and exclusions control exactly what enters the feed. |
| Validation & freshness | Run a test feed, correct Google’s validation errors, then automate daily or weekly updates. | Scheduled feed generation and channel reports keep data current and surface errors early. |
With Lengow AI Studio, AI is embedded directly into the feed workflow: AI Content Localisation adapts brand content per market, AI Image Compliance prepares visuals to Manufacturer Center’s standards at scale, and AI Category Mapping keeps the same catalogue ready for every other Google channel it feeds.
Why brands claim their data on Google
Most brands discover Manufacturer Center the day they search their own product and find a reseller’s thin listing standing in for it. The programme exists to fix exactly that, and it pays a second dividend: performance data across the whole reseller network from one dashboard.
On Google, your product page is written by whoever sells it, unless the brand writes it first. Manufacturer Center is where brands take the pen back, for free.

Can’t find what you’re looking for?
A free Google programme that lets brands and manufacturers provide the official version of their product data: titles, descriptions, images, specifications and videos. Google uses it as the authoritative source across Shopping, Search, Images and Ads, whichever retailer is selling the product, and gives brands analytics on how their products perform across the whole network.
Brand owners, manufacturers and licensors, with brand ownership verified when the account is created. Retailers selling other companies' brands are not eligible: their tool is Google Merchant Center, feeding channels like Google Shopping.
Merchant Center carries a retailer's offer: price, availability, shipping, the data needed to sell. Manufacturer Center carries the brand's truth about the product itself, and that data takes priority as the source of truth over retailer uploads. The two work together: many brands run both, one for their D2C offers and one for their brand data.
Required: a unique internal id, a unique GTIN (EAN or UPC), title, brand, a marketing description and an HD main image of at least 1000×1000 px on a white background without watermarks. The differentiating fields are optional: feature descriptions, technical details, videos, official product pages, suggested retail price and variant structure via item group id.
Lengow maps the brand catalogue to Manufacturer Center's structure: identifiers and GTINs, image standards, rich-content fields, variant handling with parent products excluded, and segments controlling exactly which products are published. The feed is delivered by URL to your verified account, channel duplication handles localisation, and AI Content Localisation and AI Image Compliance support multi-market content at scale. No category mapping is needed on this channel.
