The Amazon marketplace offers several services to help e-tailers sell internationally. With a European seller account, it is easy to sell your products on all of Amazon’s different sites in Europe and throughout the world.
Amazon: the king of e-commerce
Amazon is the world’s number one marketplace, with revenues of over 100 billion dollars in 2015 and 300 million customers across the globe. In UK, over 18 million internet users visit the site each month, making it the uncontested leader among e-commerce sites.
How to sell on Amazon?
Create a seller account to access the Seller Central interface: you will need to provide your credit card information, a telephone number,
information on your business and yourself, your bank account details.
Choose a customer service in the local language of the target country.
When Amazon notifies you that an order has been placed, all you have to do is pack and ship your product, or use the Fulfilment by Amazon service.
You will receive payment in the currency you have chosen.
If you sell more than 30 items per month, you will be required to upgrade to an Amazon Pro Seller account, which offers several advantages: the absence of sales-based commissions (a monthly subscription fee is charged instead), unlimited item listings, access to statistics tools, the ability to create product descriptions, etc.
International services specific to Amazon
Creation of international listings (your products are published on the various Amazon sites).
A currency converter (for receiving payments in the desired currency).
Practical solutions for shipping: you can take care of everything on your own or opt for the Fulfilment by Amazon service (which covers the storage, pick-up, packing and shipping of your products) or you can outsource your top-selling products to a local distribution centre (to reduce costs and delivery time).
